Introduction

The Sporting Resource

Hi, I’m Rich — the coach behind The Sporting Resource.

I’ve spent years on the grass, planning sessions late at night, balancing cones in the rain, and always chasing better ways to coach. I started this site for coaches like me, the ones who care. No one should hit a paywall when all they need is an idea or a bit of support.

(No paywall. No gimmicks...)

If one coach gets better, every player they meet benefits.

“You don’t need another session plan. What you need is clarity, creativity, and purpose. We’re here for coaches who care. No membership fees. All tools and ideas are free to explore resources, videos, notes. Join a coaching community focused on doing work that matters.

Our Founder

Meet Rich — the founder of The Sporting Resource.

Rich’s career bridges coaching, education, and health and social care, with a passion for helping others fulfil their potential. Over the past decade, he has coached across all age groups in both Wales and the United States, combining grassroots insight with global perspective.

A UEFA B licensed coach and Sports Coaching graduate from Cardiff Metropolitan University, Rich also holds a PGCE in Further Education from Bangor University. He’s currently training part-time as an Occupational Therapist at Glyndwr University, continuing his commitment to inclusive, person-centred practice.

Beyond football, Rich has expanded his skillset with Level 3 Counselling, the Open University’s Introducing Health and Social Care (K102) module, and a wide range of professional certifications — including the FA Psychology and Talent ID Level 1 awards, the Disability Inclusion Certificate, Autism Awareness, and the Care Certificate.

This blend of qualifications reflects Rich’s belief that great coaching is about more than drills — it’s about understanding people. That belief fuels The Sporting Resource, not just as a hub of materials, but as a genuine coaching community — where ideas are shared, experiences valued, and growth is collective.
